Company History
Glenwood
Drive-In is a family owned and operated business.
The Stone family has owned Glenwood
for over 50 years. Rocky Stone bought the Glenwood
in 1955, after being a Tip-Top salesman/deliveryman.
Rocky delivered bread to the Glenwood and thought
he would be able to grow the business. Rocky’s
first order of business was to expand the Glenwood’s
hours, and the business took about a year to
get off the ground. In 1960, Rocky Stone died
and
his son, Wayne Stone took over The Glenwood.
Mr. Stone
soon expanded the menu and added on to the existing
building. Glenwood has become an institution
in Hamden, CT.

Glenwood prides itself on its high food quality.
We have high standards and will only use the best
quality products. We have won awards for our Hot
Dogs, lobster rolls and homemade onion rings. Most
recently we were voted best Hot Dog in Connecticut
by Connecticut magazine. Glenwood has been in magazines
and articles for its hot lobster rolls and homemade
onion rings. Our onion rings are made by hand, from
slicing to breading. Our lobster rolls are made with
100% lobster meat and the highest quality lobster
from Canada.

Mr. Stone’s
children now help run the business. His daughter
Kelly has opened an ice cream parlor
which is attached to Glenwood and has been in operation
for over 20 years. Kelly’s has also won numerous
awards for her vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Kelly’s
is also very active in Hamden schools and events.
